Paul McCartney: The Touring Years (1989-1993) New Book Project!

Today, I am excited to announce that over the forthcoming months, I will be working on a new Paul McCartney book, which will cover his touring years from 1989 to 1993.

Thank you to everybody who purchased Wings Live. I hope you enjoyed it.

The format will be along the same lines for this new book.

Paul McCartney, The Touring Years (1989-1993) will begin with extensive information about McCartney’s decision to resume touring in September 1989 after a very long hiatus. The book will then examine every single concert from:

  • The Paul McCartney World Tour (September 1989-July 1990)
  • The Unplugged Tour (May-July 1991)
  • The New World Tour (February-December 1993)

I will consider all of the available recordings (both official and unofficial); concert and interview footage and printed memorabilia.

How Can You Help?

Anybody who has read my books knows that I don’t work alone. Wings Live was very much a group effort. I believe that the book was really “brought alive” by those who offered first-hand accounts of the concerts. People also kindly offered photographs from the concerts, or of tickets and other ephemera.

So I am putting out a call for contributions once more:

  • Did you attend a concert? Can you offer a first -hand review? – make it as personal and as opinionated as you like!
  • Did you take any photographs that I can make use of for this book?
  • Did you keep any tickets? Would you be willing to take a photo of the ticket stub and email it for use in the book?

What You Will Expect in Return

People who know me can attest that on previous occasions, every single contributor has been fully credited. Everybody was also sent a free book.

On this occasion, if I do get very many submissions, I might not be able to offer a free book to everybody – but you be able to buy the book to cover my costs only (usually around half price).

If anybody offers something of a significant nature, such as multiple reviews, or a photograph that could grace the cover, I can offer at least a free hardback and softback book, or even offer a small fee to use that photograph.
