Paul McCartney: The World Tour 1989-90 – Release date February 2022

In a week that has seen the exciting release of Peter Jackson’s Get Back on Disney Plus, I’ve been hard at work on my next book, Paul McCartney: The World Tour 1989-90.

It will be released around February 2022, so it won’t be long to wait. It will be a projected 120k words long and 320 pages in length. The softback book will retail for around £28, the hardback around £33. Anybody who has contributed a review of a concert for the book will be able to purchase the book at cost price (the printing costs alone).

The book obviously focussed on McCartney’s mammoth 103-date tour that stretched from September 1989 to July 1990. However, it begins with an extensive examination of McCartney’s studio work in the 1980s and his eventual decision to tour after a break of ten years. Moreover, every single live performance is examined in detail, including his appearances at Live Aid, The Prince’s Trust Concert and all live-in-the-studio performances.

To this end, I have managed to secure an interview (that will be featured in the appendix) with one of the biggest names in TV music broadcasting in Britain, who supplies lots of inside information about McCartney’s live studio work – all will be revealed!

The front cover image has been provided by Andrew Brooks, who many of you will know from his Beatles and McCartney-oriented YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/c/AndrewBrooks/featured

I fiddled around and came up with a cover design that most people seem to quite like.

In addition, Josh Gill kindly made a publicity image, displaying his Photoshop editing skills:

This book will contain at least ten accounts from fan who attended the concerts from these tours.

I have listened to every single available recording of the show and watched every piece of available footage. Fans have provided me with hundreds of press clippings and I have scoured all the contemporary newspapers. I have drawn upon a rich seam of primary source evidence for my research.

I will keep you all updated, so please make sure you have subscribed to this website – so watch this space!
