Paul McCartney in the 1980s – Interview with John Heaton

Many of you will know about John Heaton. He has one of the best YouTube pages for Beatles and McCartney fans – he regularly posts reviews of albums and other releases. He has a charming and affable style.

John has reviewed some of my books on his page. In preparation for my next book, Paul McCartney: The World Tour, 1989-90, we chatted for an hour and thirty minutes about McCartney’s work in the 80s, which I have called “The Studio Years” in my next book.

In fact, the conversation veered off into many directions, covering topics such as McCartney’s performances at Live Aid and on The Tube; the controversy over recent colored vinyl releases; the musicians in Give My Regards to Broad Street; and even his attitude towards trade unionism!

I have illustrated the video with the relevant photographs – some of these are actual pages from my forthcoming book – or when I have made a mistake in my recollections, the information on the screen puts the facts right.

My book, Paul McCartney: The World Tour, 1989-90 should be ready around March 2022.

I hope you enjoy this interview
