Rare Clips – Part Two
More rare clips here from Roy Matthews’ collection of VHS videos that I have been slowly converting to digital format.
Celebration – Granada TV 1979
A regional arts programme based in the north west. In this episode, from November 1979, there is a feature on Wings’ performance at the Royal Court in Liverpool.
Breakfast Time Interview
This is a 1986 interview around the time of Press to Play. It is filmed at the MPL office in Soho Square, where there is a harmonium.
The interview is by Selina Scott – whose telegenic looks and posh voice helped her to get a job on Breakfast Time – the BBC’s breakfast channel, which launched in 1983
The older guy who introduces the segment is Frank Bough. Bough earnestly discusses the subject of “drug abuse”. In 1988, Bough was sacked by the BBC when he became mired in a sex and drugs scandal that involved taking cocaine and wearing lingerie at sex parties; making Paul and Linda’s pot-smoking habit seem rather tame in comparison!
Saturday Shake Up 1979
The final clip is from Saturday Shake Up in 1979. Wings are in the middle of the British tour. Although the film quality is not the best, the interview does throw up a number of interesting points.
