The Contributors – Updated

After writing three McCartney/Wings book, I think it’s time to pay tribute to all the people who have helped out in one way or another.

How many of these contributors do you know?

Keith Trevor Andrews attended Wings’ last ever gig at London’s Hammersmith Odeon on the 29th of December 1979. He provides an illuminating account for Wings Live.

Iain Baird – Iain was fortunate enough to have attended the historic last night of Wings’ 1979 at the Glasgow Apollo. He provides am insightful and detailed report for Wings Live.

Geoff Britton – Wings’ drummer from the spring of 1974 until early 1975. Geoff kindly let me interview him from residence in Alicante, Spain, where he still works as a professional drummer (photo Dan Ealey).

Andrew Brooks – photographs in Volume Two of Paul McCartney After The Beatles A Musical Appreciation.

Geoff Clode. Geoff is a resident of Swansea, South Wales. His extensive research into Wings’ concert at Swansea University on the 22nd of February 1972 formed an important contribution to the University Tour chapter in Wings Live.

Dan and Eve Cuny. Dan is a professional photographer. He allowed me to us his magnificent photo of Paul at Cow Palace, San Francisco on the 13th of June 1976 for the cover of Wings Live. Dan and Eve provide an account of the concert.

Dan Ealey – Dan lives in Cookesville, Tennessee and befriended Wings in the summer of 1974. He provides photographs for Volume Two of Paul McCartney After The Beatles A Musical Appreciation and an account of meeting Paul McCartney and Wings. Dan was one of the only people to have heard Wings perform live in 1974 – and he gives an excellent account of this unique experience in Wings Live.

Marcus Garside – Marcus lives in Huddersfield, Yorkshire and has been a Beatles fan since 1963. He helped to proof-read Volumes One and Two of Paul McCartney After The Beatles A Musical Appreciation and Wings Live.

Colin Grant made the biggest contribution to Wings Live, offering accounts for no fewer than four accounts of Wings concerts that he attended, from 1973 to 1979. After Wings themselves, Colin is perhaps the next “star” in Wings Live, as he maps his life through the gigs that he attended.

Lars Bo Hansen – Lars attended Wings’ gig at Copenhagen’s Falkoner Theatre on the 20th of March 1976 and provides an excellent account of the experience.

John Heaton – Photograph in Volume One of Paul McCartney After The Beatles A Musical Appreciation. John also kindly reviewed my first two books for his brilliant YouTube channel.

Tom Jennings. Tom is the proud owner of the original Wings Tour bus, WNO 481. He is on a mission to get the bus fully renovated and restored. He contributed an article about the bus to Wings Live. His campaign can be found at www.1972wingstourbus.com.

James Liverani – James is a music teacher and photographer based in New York. He provided the cover photo in Volume Two; inside photos in Volume One and the hardback cover’s slipcover; and an account of meeting and performing with Paul McCartney in Volume Two of Paul McCartney After The Beatles A Musical Appreciation (photo Robert Gannon).

Tom Liverani – Tom is James’ dad – and is no doubt responsible for his family’s love of all things Macca. Tom offered an account of Wings at Uniondale on the 21st of May 1976 in Wings Live.

Javier Lubelski – photographs in Volumes One and Two; Account of meeting Paul McCartney in Volume Two of Paul McCartney After The Beatles A Musical Appreciation. Assistance and advice offered for Wings Live.

Laurence Juber, or LJ, as he likes to be known, was Wings’ final lead guitarist, from July 1978, to April 1981. He kindly provided me with an interview, which is focussed on Wings’ final tour in 1979, Back to the Egg and the Japanese “incident”.

Eoghan Lyng is a music writer. He interviewed guitarists Denny Laine and Eric Stewart for Culture Sonar. https://www.culturesonar.com/a-groovy-kind-of-interview-with-eric-stewart. Eogahn helped to proof-read Volume One of Paul McCartney After The Beatles A Musical Appreciation and reviewed Wings Live for New Sounds.

Roy Matthews (with musician Neeve Zahra) photographs in Volumes One and Two and an account of working with Paul McCartney in Volume Two of Paul McCartney After The Beatles A Musical Appreciation. In Wings Live, Roy offers an account of Wings’ performance at Manchester’s Hardrock on the 16th and 17th of May 1973.

Ian McNabb is the lead singer of the band the Icicle Works who rose to fame in the 1980s. He explains the influence of McCartney’s solo career in the conclusion of Volume Two of Paul McCartney After The Beatles A Musical Appreciation. http://www.ianmcnabb.com/

Patricia Naylor-Klinshaw. Patricia attended on of the first gigs on Wings’ legendary US tour in 1976. She provides an account of the Philadelphia gig on the 12th of May 1976. Here she is, with James McCartney.

Jeff Pelkmans. Jeff was born in Belgium but now lives in Indonesia. He is a Beatles author in his own right. Jeff provided some brilliant research about Wings at Antwerp’s Cine Roma on the 22nd of August 1972.

Fernando Perdomo is an acclaimed producer, singer-songwriter and multi- instrumentalist based in Los Angeles. He is featured in the movie Echo In The Canyon. He explains the influence of McCartney’s solo career in the conclusion of Volume Two of Paul McCartney After The Beatles A Musical Appreciation.

Nancy Riley – Photographs in Volume Two of Paul McCartney After The Beatles A Musical Appreciation and an account of seeing Wings at Atlanta’s Omni Stadium on the 18th of May 1976. (pictured with Beatles sound engineer Geoff Emerick).

Allan Robb – photograph in Volume Two of Paul McCartney After The Beatles A Musical Appreciation. In Wings Live, Allan offers an account of Wings’ performance at Dundee’s Caird Hall on the 23rd of September 1975.

Sara Schmidt – (pictured with Ringo Starr) Photographs in Volume One Paul McCartney After The Beatles A Musical Appreciation.

Kurt Schreiner – proof-reading in Volumes One and Two of Paul McCartney After The Beatles A Musical Appreciation.

Michael Scott – Photographs in Volume One of Paul McCartney After The Beatles A Musical Appreciation.

Barbara Simpson – Photographs in Volume Two Paul McCartney After The Beatles A Musical Appreciation.

Peter Sims. Peter is an avid collector of Beatles books and bibliographer of the genre. As well as proof-reading Wings Live, he also provides a great account of Wings at Southampton Gaumont on the 9th of September 1975.

Sue Ullenberg – Photographs in Volume Two Paul McCartney After The Beatles A Musical Appreciation.

Joint Contributions

Lots of fans offered their opinions about the various Wings line-ups for Wings Live. I collated these opinions and presented them in a special appendix in the book, “Fan Polls and Perceptions”. Here is an extract from that chapter – thanks to everybody who contributed!
